Past Friends

This page is dedicated to all those lovely furry friends of mine who have now gone over Rainbow Bridge - they are all very sadly missed, but I know we'll meet up again one day.

 Rastacat  Kerrydwen  (Pixie)

24 June 1998 - 18 May 2010

Pixie was a special little cat, I had intended to keep her originally but a lady came along and wanted 2 (one of which being Pixie) and so I felt 2 going together was better for the kittens and I allowed her to go.  Two years later the kittens came back to me, one was rehomed, but for some reason I always 'forgot' to mention Pixie was available and so she stayed.  A quiet, unassuming little cat, old age crept up on her and last weekend she called to me, purring she climbed onto my lap and rubbed her little face in mine, two days later I found her in her favourite place - a heated bed and she had gone.  She will be greatly missed by me and the other cats who always found time to lay with her.

Ch. Rastacat Guinevere (Guin)

24 June 1998 - 29 March 2010

Today was a sad day as my beloved Guinevere went over Rainbow Bridge.  She had developed a mammary tumour and I had decided not to have her operated on, as I have lost too many cats after this type of operation and at 12 years of age, she was entitled to 'go gracefully'.  Her breathing had started to become laboured, which  meant that the cancer was probably spreading, so it was time to let her go.  My little 'bionic cat' - named after she broke her leg and ended up like Barry Sheen - full of metal pins - she was a little 'fighter', but there are times when the fight is over and this was one of them - sleep well Guinevere.

Takeshi Seska (Sesspit)

23 March 2005 - 7 August 2009

To come home and find a much loved pet has departed this world without you knowing, is probably the greatest shock and heartache to bear.  My beloved Sess was absolutely fine when I left for work in the morning, but when I arrived home she had gone.  She looked so peaceful, it looked as though she had gone to sleep and not woken.  She hadn't been ill and my brother had seen her sitting with Jarrah shortly before he left the house, with me arriving just after he had left.  It was that quick.  My darling little birthday girl (we shared the same day), she was definitely MY cat, she would push other cats out of the way so that she could sit as close to me as possible.

Life is not the same without her.

Rastacat Tiger Eye (Isla)

8 June 2007 - 3 August 2009

Little Isla was born with a deformed rib cage, so we always knew her life would be short, so we made sure she enjoyed every minute of it.  I watched over her very carefully to make sure she didn't have any respiratory problems, thinking that would be what would take her from us, so it was with a shock that she suddenly was taken with a tumour on her liver.  She became ill quite suddenly and the kindest thing was to have her put to sleep.  I miss my little tabby girl, with her smiling eyes.

Ch Rastacat Morganalafay (Baby Fay)

18 November 1996 - 4 June 2009

Baby Fay had 'pottered' along as an old lady for a while when she start to lose interest in food - unlike her, that was the sign that her time had come and she no longer wanted to be on this mortal planet.  She was put to sleep with grace and dignity.  Another old friend has now gone.

Jacnjan Jenda (Colin)

3 April 1996 - 20 May 2009

It's an end of an era when a very special cat passes over to Rainbow Bridge.  Colin the tortoiseshell male cat was put to sleep after suffering a stroke.  He remained entire, although sterile, all his life; he lived with the ladies and he loved the ladies.  He sprayed for England and smelt more of a stud cat than all my entire boys put together, but he was happy :o)

A special cat who has now gone to a special place.

Rastacat Esclarimonde (Clarice)

24 May 2001 - 29 February 2008

Clarice was a special little cat to me, always referred to as 'mummy's little girl' she had a special place in my heart.  An only kitten who appeared quite unexpectedly (me not knowing her mother was even in kitten!!), she had to stay.  Everyone that met her commented on what a beautiful cat she was, a black smoke, she was stunning, with a lovely shiny rippled coat and a very gentle nature, you couldn't help but love her.

She was taken very quickly from me.  Due to sudden weight loss the vet undertook some exploratory surgery where it was discovered that she had tumours in her bowel, sadly I had to ask the vet not to wake her.

My beautiful girl is now buried in the garden, where I say hello to her every time I walk past, I miss her dreadfully, she slept with me every night and although I have a bed full of cats, her little place is still there.

Jacnjan Jhamish (Hamie)

31 July 1997 - 3 February 2008

Hamie was a very gentle soul, from a mating between my friends old style Siamese and my Rastacat Whegyn, they produced a litter of beautiful variants who went on to sire some lovely Cornish.

He had suddenly grown old and started losing weight, it was his time to go and so after a night spent purring on my bed, his little head resting on my arm, it was time to let him go.

Sleep well old man.

Seer's Ronja (Ronnie)

1 December 1999 - 6 December 2006

Ronnie was my first import.  I fell in love with this picture of her and went to collect her from her breeder, Kirsi Koukku, in Finland.

She was a quiet little cat, keeping herself to herself, although she loved to be stroked, she wasn't too keen on cuddles, but would happily come and sit near you.  She had the most beautiful thick, soft wavy coat, but it was her beautiful eyes that everyone commented on, they were a wonderful shade of aqua, which was so unusual.

I have her daughter Sadie to carry on her lines, but I will miss Ronnie a great deal.

Rastacat Henna (Henny)

24 May 1998 - 2 September 2006

Henny was actually the result of an illicit (or should that be incestuous?) affair between Jacnjan Jhamish and his grandmother Rexivel Trickortreat.  All of the resulting kittens were supposed to go as pets, but for some reason Henna managed to worm his way into our hearts and stayed (don't they just love to do that?).

About 18 months ago we noticed Henny was losing weight and kidney failure was the conclusion, but he managed to stay reasonably active and certainly enjoyed his food until the last, but on 2/9/06 he passed away in his sleep surrounded by his grandchildren.  We'll miss his funny meows and mealtimes now are easier, as there is no red paw swiping meat from our plates :o)

Pr Pendorric Miranda (Megan)

6 August 1991 - 29 November 2005

Megan came to me as a 'rescue' in 1995, her owner having died suddenly and all the other cats had been rehomed except Meggy, she had lost all her fur in the trauma of it all and no-one wanted her, so naturally she had to come home with me :o)  She was a grand lady.  Always a shoulder cat - especially the left shoulder, she loved people, being on them and cuddling into them, in later years she sounded like she smoked 40 Woodbine a day, but was quite happy to have the occasional cough and splutter.

Sadly towards the end of 2005 she started to lose weight and wasn't keen on any foods I tried to tempt her with,  She went peacefully in her sleep, curled up in a heated bed.  We miss her terribly, no little snoring sounds come from the top of the fish tank.  As I write this I am awaiting the birth of her Great Grandchildren, her memory will live on in this next litter.

Rastacat Whegyn (Wiggy)

2 August 1991 - 12 June 2005

Wiggy was from my second litter of Cornish Rex. She wasn't a brilliant example of the breed for type, but she did produce all of my Champions and Grand Champions. So it just goes to show that a cat doesn't have to look good, just have good genes. She was a lovely old cat and when a year ago she was diagnosed with mammary tumours I declined the operation, having lost cats too soon after this op. I decided we would let nature take it's course but if I felt she was suffering then we would help her on her way. Nature kindly gave us another year with her, but the day came when I knew she had had enough and so we gently and gracefully let her go. An end of an era comes with losing an old friend, but I watch her son (Jarrah) and grandchildren and great grandchildren and know she lives on in them.

Rexivel Jellicleatrastacat (Spatz)

13 January 1999 - 21 May 2005

Spatz was the second Devon Rex to come to me from Jackie Green - knowing how much I love my bi-colours - especially black and white. She was a funny little cat, very 'dog-like', always wagging her tail and so affectionate. Sadly a few weeks ago we discovered she had an intestinal tumour, so her last few weeks were spent on my bed surrounded by her furry friends, which is where I found her in that last peaceful sleep. She is sadly missed.

Grand Champion Saxonian Etienne Navarre (Pudding)

5 May 1993 - 26 July 2004

Navarre was put to sleep to save any suffering from an illness that took him from me so quickly. Navarre sired many titled cats and was a pure Gentleman at all times. He gained his 'pet' name in only the way a Cornish can ... his love of food !!!

He will be very sadly missed, not only by me, but by all those that came into contact with him - human and furry.

Gr. Ch. Jacnjan Jelliclejess (Jess)

29 March 1994 - 14 January 2004

Jess was put to sleep to save further suffering from tumors in the heart and brain - he had 5 weeks with me after the initial diagnosis, when we knew that every day we had was a bonus.

Jess was the ultimate Cornish Rex to me - he was what I had always wanted - a black and white Cornish wearing his dinner suit. He was a beautiful cat who gave me 10 years of pleasure (and sometimes heartache!). He had a wonderful show career and sired some beautiful kittens - his daughter and grand-daughter are still with me. I will miss him terribly.

Gr Ch & Pr Jacnjan Jenerator (Jacob)

20 January 1992 - 7 May 2003

Jacob died peacefully in his sleep after suffering from a frozen larynx for a short while. Veterinary medicine kept him comfortable, but it was obvious to Jackie & Trevor (who he lived with), that he was on borrowed time. He was a great Ambassador for the Jacnjan prefix and will be very sadly missed.

Jacob was the result of Jackie and I purchasing a little blue tortie variant girl out of Russian Blue lines, who we then mated to a lovely blue and white Cornish boy, there were 6 kittens in the litter and we decided to keep Jacob and use him as the foundation boy for our breeding programme. Jacob sired many titled cats, and won a number of Best in Shows.

Ch. Rastacat Yzella  (Whizz Kid)

9 December 1990 - 31 December 2002

Whizz was the first Cornish I bred and my first Champion. Daughter of Gr. Ch. Veryann Cream Tease x Rexivel Trickortreat, she was the foundation for my cream cats, fortunately I have her daughter Rastacat Sowenna and granddaughter Rastacat Barenwyn to keep her lines going.

Mother of Gr Ch Rastacat Sterrenyk (put to sleep in December 2002) and Gr Ch Rastacat Gingarogas.

Rexivel Trickortreat (Poppy)

31 October 1989 - 10 December 2001

Poppy was my first Cornish Rex, a lovely lady who produced some wonderful kittens, she was put to sleep to save suffering and I miss her terribly. I am pleased to have her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to carry on her memory and thank Jackie for allowing me to own Poppy and bring me into the world of Cornish Rex.
